Writing on the Wall is a multi-genre music and film project exploring the relationship between hip hop, jazz, dub and graffiti culture. Framed as a love letter to urban culture, the project celebrates the creativity, community and individuality that exists within these art forms.
I recorded all of the instruments for the project, as well as mixing and mastering the final tracks. The music combines hip hop production with live jazz instrumentation, moving between sample-driven hip hop, jazz-influenced pieces and a dub track.
Alongside the music, I created a documentary-style film capturing the recording process and the creation of graffiti, bringing the musical and visual sides of the project together. The film aims to give an authentic insight into the people, processes and culture behind the work.
